He is General Director of International Economic Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile. He is also an economist from the University of Chile with postgraduate studies in International Economics and Economic Development at the Complutense University of Madrid. In the early nineties, he became Manager of the area in Mexico, Central America and LAIA of the Department of Latin America and Integration of DIRECON and, subsequently, was appointed Head of the aforementioned department and Director of Bilateral Economic Affairs (2005-2008). In 2009, he was appointed Chilean Ambassador to Uruguay (2009) and Permanent Representative of the country to the LAIA.
